That time has come, a rather special rogue/nethack clone has turned up on the iPhone, with all the polish of an action rogue-em-up complete with cutesy art style. With the Sword of Fargoal released a while back, we thought the rogue game was done, but 100 Rogues seems to be aiming at a more accessible style, but with the core punch of a rogue based survivor game.
However, there seems to be a fly in the ointment, or a gelatinous cube in the health potion. There have been application stability issues mainly linked to equipping a shield on your Hero. So if you’ve taken the plunge already, go two handed longsword for now. You might want to wait a while before stumping up the £2.99 for the game, until the appropriate patches fix up the instability issues. Its a shame that such a long awaited title, with praise ladelled upon it from all reputable sources has a bit of a chink in its armour.
